< Britney’s getting “Gleeful….”
The creators of FOX’s hit musical comedy-drama Glee are planning a full episode dedicated to the music of pop diva Britney Spears that will premiere when the show returns for a second season next fall.
“We are writing a Britney Spears episode,” series creator Ryan Murphy revealed last week. Murphy, however, remained coy when quizzed on whether or not the biggest pop music phenomenon of the early 2000s will make a cameo on the show. or which songs from Britney’s catalogue — which includes hits like “Oops!…I did it Again” and “Piece of Me” — would be getting the Glee treatment. The TV musical, whch won 19 Emmy nominations Thursday, based two episodes earlier this year on the music of Queen of Pop Madonna and reigning chart princess Lady Gaga, although neither of those stars appeared.
Glee – about a struggling high school show choir that sings cover versions of pop, Broadway and hip-hop tunes — was one of the most-talked about TV programs of the past year. The series has become so popular, in fact, there have been a bevy of reports about which Hollywood stars may be putting on their dancing shoes for guest appearances.
“no, javierbardemjenniferanistonjuliarobertsbradpittelvis katieholmestomcruiseandu2 are not appearing in season 2. but wouldn’t it be fun….” Dante Di Loreto, an executive producer for “Glee,” said in a Twitter announcement last week.
