Question by Panic Procul Pervideo: So what’s this “Secret Technique” for properly plotting out a…plot?
I’m bombarded by ideas–some lame and some good–but I can never seem to get a plot to work out fully. Usually the first idea I have would act as a major scene in the story.

But my question is this: how do you go from begining to end and make it the BEST POSSIBLE plot??

Are there techniques to use? How much do you fill in with detail on the rough draft. I was show a tip that goes something like this:

**Say a monkey wants to break out of a zoo. The draft would go as follows:

—Monkey, Ricardo, waits for the zoo keeper to return to his apartment.
—Ricardo uses his hidden wrench to undo the bolts of his cage.
—Ricardo encounters the zoo keeper’s guard dogs after escaping his cage.
—Successfully, he gets past them.
—Soon, the zoo keeper is woken up by the commotion.
—He chases after Ricardo, who slips through a hole behind a coke machine and escapes to the free world.

You wouldn’t be terribly detailed, but still enough for you to know what’s going on as you write. But what else should I use to better my plots? Should I get the main idea, then break it down into smaller pieces from there; getting more detailed as my plot takes shape?

How do I know when and where to put certain things in? Or even if I SHOULD include them??

GAH!! It’s so confusing! The sad thing is that I’ve chosen this as my career…Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into??
