Britney Spears’s 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant.

Nickelodeon, which carries her TV show Zoey 101, said in a statement: “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”

Spears and her mother confirmed the pregnancy to OK! magazine, saying she was 12 weeks along and the father is Jamie Lynn’s longtime boyfriend Casey Aldridge. Aldridge’s mother confirmed it to TMZ.com.

“It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected,” Jamie Lynn told OK!, according to the associated Press. “I was in complete and total shock and so was he.”

Spears told the magazine that after confirming the pregnancy with a home test and a subsequent doctor’s visit, she told only one friend – then waited two weeks before telling anybody else, including her parents.

“I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision,” she told the magazine. “Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me.”

Breaking the News to Her ParentsShe told her parents just before Thanksgiving.

“I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious,” her mother, Lynne Spears, told OK!. “She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”

Aldridge’s mother, Joyce Aldridge, told TMZ she was “aware of the recent interview regarding her and being pregnant” and that “we are in agreement with everything that was said by Jamie Lynn.”

“Everything is fine,” Joyce Aldridge added.

Spears, a high school junior who is 10 years younger than Britney, had until now escaped much of the attention about her personal life that has surrounded her sister.

Jamie Lynn stars as a schoolgirl at the fictitious Pacific Coast Academy in Zoey 101, finishing its third season next month as one of Nickelodeon’s highest-rated shows.

A rep for Spears was not immediately available for comment.

‘Valentine’s Day’ ★

Rated PG-13 | Time: 2:01

Hope they had fun making “Valentine’s Day.” There’s little to be had watching it.

The latest from veteran filmmaker Garry Marshall is a romantic comedy (debatable on both counts) memorable only for its monumental waste of talent.

The idea is to take two dozen attractive characters, toss them into a common situation — Valentine’s Day in Los Angeles — and see the emotional and comedy sparks fly.

Alas, it plays like a lost episode of “Love, American Style” that never aired because it was too lame even for a cheesy ’70s sitcom.

But, boy, did Marshall assemble an eye-popping cast.

Florist Ashton Kutcher proposes to his reluctant girl (Jessica Alba) and frets that his best friend (Jennifer Garner) doesn’t realize her new lover (Patrick Dempsey) is married. (Dempsey plays a heart surgeon, which is this movie’s idea of clever.)

There’s a pro football QB facing retirement (Eric Dane), his agent (Queen Latifah) and his P.R. rep (Jessica Biel), who is so embittered by loneliness that she holds an annual I hate Valentine’s Day party. (Jessica Biel lonely? No, I didn’t buy that one, either.)

On an L.A-bound airplane a businessman (Bradley Cooper) trades niceties with a soldier (Julia Roberts) traveling around the world just to spend a few hours of Valentine’s Day with her beloved. High schoolers (Emma Roberts, Carter Jenkins, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift) coo and giggle and plot to lose their virginity.

A young fella (Topher Grace) pursues a woman (Anne Hathaway) who leads a secret life as a phone sex “actress.” Married couple Hector Elizondo and Shirley MacLaine cope with past infidelity. TV reporter Jamie Foxx does a man-in-the-street piece on the big romantic day he was hoping to avoid. And keep an eye open for Kathy Bates and George Lopez.

Too many characters and stories means there’s no time to develop any of them. plus the whole affair takes place in an alternate Hollywood universe where characters look like humans but operate by rules unknown in our reality.

Dishing romantic bromides and phony sentiment, “Valentine’s Day” lacks one emotionally truthful moment.

Even that could be forgiven were the movie funny, but it isn’t. The jokes fall flat, there’s absolutely no edge (unless it’s daring having Anne Hathaway spew PG-rated sex talk in a bad Russian accent) and well before its two hours are up you’re checking your watch and wondering if there’s still a Super Bowl beer left in the fridge.

On the plus side, the film does have one or two minor plot twists we don’t see coming.

If you must see it, wait and rent the DVD, mute the sound and watch the parade of pretty people. think of it as a show-biz screen saver.
