Her film didn’t win Best Picture at the Oscars Sunday night, but Michelle Rodriguez can still boast about playing a key role in the most successful movie in cinema history.
And now she’ll return to one of television’s most talked-about series.
Rodriguez will reprise the role of Ana Lucia Cortez on the ABC series “Lost” before its final season ends, despite being killed in Season 2 by Harold Perrineau’s Michael.
It’s not clear how many episodes Rodriguez will appear in, but it seems to be at least one, most likely in the alternate universe that the show is “flashing back” to this season, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Rodriguez did appear in the fifth season to Hurley (Jorge Garcia).

Felicia Day to find a wolf in Grandma’s bed
Felicia Day is entering the world of Syfy Saturday movies. The star of the online projects “The Guild” and “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” as well as a guest in shows such as “Dollhouse,” will play a werewolf-hunting descendant of LIttle Red Riding Hood in the Syfy Saturday Original Movie “Red.”
Scheduled to premiere in 2011, “Red” is the latest classic fairy tale reimagining from the cable channel. it will join movies such as “Beauty and the Beasts: a Dark Take,” which aired on Feb. 27. other movies based on Aladdin, Sinbad the Sailor and Hansel & Gretel also are in the works.
When Red brings her fiance home, he learns about the family business: hunting werewolves. He ends up getting bit by one, and the family insists the finace has to be killed. Red, however, tries to save him (but probably won’t be looking to either Nathan Fillion or Neil Patrick Harris for help).
“Red” also stars Kavan Smith from “Stargate: Atlantis” and Stephen McHattie from “Watchmen.” — [Airlock Alpha]

Star Trek cast time travels to 1975
There is some footage that has boldly gone where few “Star Trek” fans have ever been able to go before.
TrekMovie has uncovered some footage on YouTube shot by a fan at a Chicago convention in 1975 ahead of the first Star Trek movie, and featuring the entire original cast, including Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner.
The video was shot by Rich Portnoy on 8mm, and only recently decided to digitize it, despite the fact it doesn’t have any sound.
It also features DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols, James Doohan, and Arlene Martel.

‘Caprica’ to get more entertainment from Patton Oswalt
Liking Patton Oswalt on the new Syfy series “Caprica?” good, because there is going to be more of him.
Oswalt, who also had a couple of guest stints on the short-lived Fox series “Dollhouse,” plays talk show host Baxter Sarno on the “Battlestar Galactica” spinoff, and he has more digging to do into the lives of the Graystones, according to the actor.
“Well, I kind of pop up throughout [the season], you know on televisions and stuff,” Oswalt told MTV. “People are clearly watching the show that I host. and then, I have a bit of involvement later that I’d like to just sort of leave up in the air.”
Sarno is rumored to be a man who has some very interesting side work in the series.

‘Doctor Who’ props sold at auction
A “Doctor Who” auction featuring props from the show pre-Russell T. Davies, fetched some $385,000 last week, including more than $30,000 for an MK 1 Dalek used in a 1985 episode of the TV series.
Daleks were some of the most popular lots in the London auction, where every single piece presented for auction was sold. some Cybermen were purchased at high prices, including one for more than $15,000.
Also sold was the black satin waitress frock and bots singer Kylie Minogue wore in the 2007 “Doctor Who” Christmas special, as well as the dinner suit former star David Tennant wore in the same episode. The dress sold for $5,000 and the suit? $8,000. — [CBC News]

A Night With Russell Tovey
Speaking of “Doctor Who,” the star of the BBC version of “Being Human” — which Syfy is Americanizing for its audience — is hanging out in Florida this week.
Russell Tovey, who starred in the same “Doctor Who” Christmas special “Voyage of the Damned” with Minogue, and made a cameo appearance in Tennant’s final “Doctor Who” episode as Alonzo and a potential love interest for John Barrowman’s Capt. Jack Harkness, will visit Orlando March 11 as part of the regular Hurricane Who program developed by Jarrod Cooper.
Tickets are $25, and autographs cost $20 each. However, unlike MegaCon, which Tovey also is attending in Orlando this weekend, the event at the Cricketer’s Arms Pub is a much more intimate affair with very limited tickets.
Although it’s the same night as Alpha Waves Radio (I’ll make a call-in live from the event during the new Alpha Waves Rewind show), I’ll be there. so if Russell Tovey isn’t enough, then you have me! (I’m joking, Russell Tovey better be enough!)
This is a great event put together by Hurricane Who, and one that can’t be missed. so make some plans to come to Orlando this week, and get more details — including how you can get tickets — by clicking here. — [Airlock Alpha]

Alpha Waves Radio this week
I am very excited to welcome Joshua Gates, host of “Destination Truth” on Syfy, as our special guest on Alpha Waves Radio this week. We also are welcoming Kenn Gold, one of the founders of Media Blvd and the co-host of The two Doctors radio show he does on BlogTalkRadio as well.
I thought it would be fun to have Kenn on, since it was he and I with Joshua Gates the night we spent a whole five minutes lost in Vancouver late last year. I like making it sound wild and dramatic, but our confusion was quickly solved by my iPhone, so blame technology for ruining a good story!
Alpha Waves Radio begins its live stream at 8 p.m. ET March 11 at AlphaWavesRadio.com. Then at 9 p.m., immediately after the regular show with Joshua Gates, the amazing Tony Tellado will host the brand-new live wrap-up show Alpha Waves Rewind. Here you will have a chance to talk about the show you just heard, science-fiction in general or anything on your mind. just call in at (646) 200-3642.
Whether you want to call in or not, make sure you join what has become a more and more crowded chatroom attached to the show, all at the same place. We have some great listeners there, and you don’t want to miss the conversation. The chatroom opens at around 7:30 p.m. ET the night of the show at AlphaWavesRadio.com.
Future shows will feature Brian J. Smith, star of “Stargate: Universe” on March 25, and hopefully — if I can get the time to sit down and talk with him Thursday — Russell Tovey from “Being Human” and “Doctor Who” on April 8.
All of our shows begin at 8 p.m. ET, and can be found at AlphaWavesRadio.com. if you can’t join us for the live stream, you can download the complete show for free in archive form either at that site or through the Apple iTunes Store. just do a search for “Alpha Waves Radio.”
And be sure to listen to Tony Tellado and Alpha Waves Rewind — there will be a trivia question and a chance to win a very cool prize courtesy of Airlock Alpha and Alpha Waves Radio. — [Airlock Alpha]

Daniel Radcliffe works to prevent gay suicide
Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter franchise, is not gay, but he doesn’t want to live in a world where young men and women struggling with their sexuality feel the only path to keeping their secret is to take their own life.
Radcliffe recently filmed a public service announcement for the Trevor Project, which provides round-the-clock suicide prevention and crisis awareness services to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community.
“I grew up knowing a lot of gay men, and it was never something that I even though twice about — that some men were gay and some weren’t,” Radcliffe said. “And then I went to school and [for] the first time … I came across homophobia. I had never encountered it before. it shocked me.
“I have always hated anybody who is not tolerant of gay men or lesbians or bisexuals. now I am in the very fortunate position where I can actually help or do something about it.”
More information on the Trevor Project can be found at TheTrevorProject.org. — [E! Online]

‘Dollhouse’ doc gets new gig
And finally, good news for Fran Kranz, who played the awesome Topher Brink in the Fox series “Dollhouse.”
Kranz has joined the NBC comedy pilot “Friends With Benefits,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Kranz will play a nerdy hopeless romantic who is a multimillionaire after selling an algorithm to Google.
Hopefully this doesn’t mean there’s typecasting in his future, as we know Kranz is an actor with extraordinary range. — [Digital Spy]
